The death of a young mum who was allegedly murdered in Glasgow is to be probed by a police watchdog.

Brodie MacGregor was found dead at a property in Elmvale Court in the Springburn area of the city at around 10.15am on Monday, August 26. Officers confirmed that following a post-mortem examination, the 23-year-old’s death is being treated as murder.

A 52-year-old man has bee arrested in connection. He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday.

Meanwhile, detectives confirmed that the circumstances of the case have been referred to the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (PIRC). It is understood that Brodie was the mother to a young boy, and tributes have been paid online by heartbroken family and friends.

John Brown said: “Just seen this on the news, such a shame. Her poor wee laddie left without a mother.”

Nicky Findlay added: “Rip Brodie Macgregor. You were too young to leave this world.” Reacting to the tragic news, Latesha Crichton said: “Oh my god, no way. Rest in peace Brodie.”

Angela McGowan added: “Poor girl. Her wee boy left without his Mummy. Absolutely heartbreaking. R.I.P Brodie.” Jane Devine said: “Rest In Peace Brodie. Life hasn’t been good to you kid… Your mum will be waiting for you. May you both Rest In Eternal Peace.”

A statement from Police Scotland reads: “A 52-year-old male arrested in connection with the death of a woman in Glasgow is due to appear in court tomorrow. On Monday, 26 August, 2024, officers were called to a property in Elmvale Street, Glasgow.

“Brodie MacGregor was found within and pronounced dead at the scene. The 52-year-old man is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday, 30 August.

“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
