Slash’s stepdaughter Lucy-Bleu Knight’s cause of death aged 25 has been revealed.
The Guns N’ Roses guitarist, 59, announced Knight had died last month and described her as ‘a beacon of happiness, laughter, creativity and beauty.’
Today the County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner said in a statement she died by suicide.
Knight’s cause of death was hydrogen sulfide toxicity.
The statement said: ‘Ms Knight was found unresponsive in a private residence on July 19 by law enforcement conducting a welfare check. Death was pronounced at 1500 hours.
‘An examination was performed by a deputy medical examiner on July 22. The cause of death was certified on August 29.’
Slash spoke for the first time about Knight’s death five days after it was announced in a moving tribute in which he said his heart was ‘permanently fractured.’
He continued: ‘I will never ever stop missing you & remembering what a beacon of happiness, laughter, creativity & beauty you have always been. & still are.
‘The brightest light in the lives of so many that loved you so much. I find solace in the hope that you are at peace now. I will love you eternally. #LBK.’
According to LinkedIn, Knight worked as a day-to-day manager at music firm Electric Lady Management.
She also had a significant online following, with 35.3k followers on Instagram, and would post pictures of her tattoo art.
Knight was born in 1998 to parents Meegan Hodges and Mark Knight.
Slash and Meegan first dated in 1989, when she was roommates with Erin Everly, who was married to Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose.

In July, Slash announced Knight’s death on Instagram and received an outpouring of condolences.
He wrote: ‘Lucy-Bleu Knight (December 6, 1998), beloved daughter of Meegan Hodges and Mark Knight, stepdaughter of Samantha Somers Knight and Slash, sister of Scarlet Knight, stepsister of London and Cash Hudson, passed away peacefully in Los Angeles, CA on July 19, 2024.
‘Lucy-Bleu was an incredibly talented artist, a passionate dreamer, and a charming, lovable, sweet soul.
‘The family asks for privacy at this time and requests that social media speculation be kept to a minimum as they grieve and process this devastating loss.’
Red Hot Chili Pepper’s bassist Flea wrote: ‘Oh man, god bless.’
Author Susan Holmes McKagan also offered her support, posting: ‘Words cannot express our deepest sympathy and condolences. love you all so much 💔.’
