The competitive street dance school in East Kilbride formed in 2007 and their Rhythm Xtreme dancers have been attending the competition for the last 14 years.

After securing both British and Scottish championship titles in the 2024 competition season, the under-18s made it a hat trick taking home the world champions title at Winter Gardens.

The under-10 team placed runners up after winning the championship last year. They came third in the British competition and second place in the Scottish championships this season.

And the local dance school scored more success with dance duo Holly Entwistle and Amelia Grace being named world champions in under-10 advance.

DP Studio owner Rachel Smith has been dancing since she was three and after training at dance college went to the Kelvin studio which has been up and running in the town for 10 years.

She said: “It has been the biggest year for international representation with over 40 countries and 8000 people.

“My under-10s took second place and my under-18s took first place meaning we are now Scottish, British and World champions 2024!

“We are absolutely over the moon and still in shock that a studio from East Kilbride has accomplished something this big. We train hard every single week. The dancers are so committed and it’s showed in our results this year.”
