A man has claimed his sex life has been ruined and he is experiencing PTSD after he was stung in the testicles by a scorpion.

Michael Farchi, 62, was staying with wife Baita at the Palazzo at The Venetian Resort in Las Vegas over Christmas last year when he woke up in pain.

He looked down and realised that the source of the stabbing pain in his groin and hands was a scorpion sting, with the critter still under the bed covers on Boxing Day.

Photographs provided by the couple’s lawyer to 8NewsNow show the remains of the alleged tiny scorpion still gripping onto his underwear.

‘I didn’t know what it was,’ Farchi told the local broadcaster. ‘It felt like a sharp knife or glass stabbing me.’

A lawsuit was filed Tuesday on behalf of the couple, with Michael claiming the incident has left him with PTSD and erectile dysfunction.

A California tourist who stayed in the Venetian?s Palazzo Tower over the 2023 Christmas holiday said he was stung by a scorpion ? while he was sleeping ? and woke up to a searing pain in his groin area. ?He felt multiple additional stinging sensations on his hand and groin area,? according to a lawsuit filed on behalf of Michael Farchi and his wife, Batia.

Baita is also suing for loss of consortium, claiming their sex life has suffered.

‘She is alleging that their sexual relationship has suffered significantly since the sting,’ one of their lawyers, Brian Virag of My Bed Bug Lawyer, told 8NewsNow.

Michael alleged that the hotel staff didn’t take the bite seriously. ‘[They were] just holding their groin area and laughing about it. It was really embarrassing,’ he said.

Michael suffered from ‘poisoning, scorpion sting’, according to a diagnosis from Summerlin Hospital including in the suit. Doctors at UCLA Medical Center also said he was suffering from erectile dysfunction because of the sting.

But there are ‘many other effects’ of the sting, he added: ‘My family, my work, everything.

The suit says the Venetian ‘owed a duty of care to Plaintiffs to provide a clean, safe, and sanitary room… that was free of vermin, bed bugs, or similar things, including scorpions’.

Michael is seeking a jury trial to assess damages for past and future medical expenses, pain and suffering, mental distress, anguish, loss of companionship and support, and loss of enjoyment of life.

If someone suffers from a scorpion sting, the American Red Cross says they can experience headaches, rigid muscles, blisters, numbness and seizures, among other symptoms.

The Venetian has been approached for comment.
