The return to school can stir up emotions, but knowing your children are well-prepared can ease the burden a bit – and you can help them to get ready.

One savvy mum has shared her top tip on social media, revealing the contents of her daughter’s “emergency bag” which she packs to ensure her child is ready for any situation that might arise during the school day, ensuring she never lacks anything she might need.

These emergency bags are a brilliant addition to any child or teenager’s backpack, filled with useful items such as bobbles and a brush, and even a mini first aid kit for those times when they might need a plaster for a cut, or antibacterial wipes and you’re not around to assist them.

In a charming pink and red chequered bag, Danielle, known on TikTok as @lifewithdaniielle, carefully selected essentials her 10-year-old might require. She started with a first aid kit brimming with plasters and wipes.

Next, she added tissues, a small deodorant, hair ties for a quick ponytail or hairstyle change at school, a hairbrush, hand sanitiser, hand cream, and lip balm.

She also included a Victoria’s Secret body spray in the mix, so her daughter stays fresh throughout the day.

For oral care, especially since her daughter has braces, Danielle packed a separate smaller bag with a travel toothbrush, toothpaste, dental wax, special brushes for the braces, and a compact mirror.

She mentioned that she favours stashing cash in her bag to be financially equipped for any necessity.

In the discussion, one individual commented: “You should probably pack some pads or tampons just in case of an emergency.”

A responder said: “To this day, I still pack an emergency kit. I don’t know why but I feel like I need to have it no matter where I go.”

Another parent wrote: “My daughter just got braces and I forgot about a bag for school. I knew I was forgetting something.”
