Three arrests were made at Celtic Park today as Brendan Rodgers’ side extended their lead over rivals Rangers to five points with a 3-0 win.

Police Scotland have launched a probe into disorder and the use of pyrotechnics at the stadium, in the east end of Glasgow, during this afternoon’s derby.

The antics from fans in the stands saw officers arresting three people, one for possession of a flare, and two for possession of other prohibited items.

The force said the three men will now be reported to prosecutors as a probe continues.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 32-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with possession of pyrotechnics during a football match between Celtic and Rangers at Celtic Park on Sunday, September 1, 2024.

“A further two men, aged 22 and 26, have been charged in connection with possession of a prohibited item. Reports will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Officers are carrying out further enquiries into incidents of disorder and use of pyrotechnics during the match.”

On the park, goals from Daizen Maeda, Kyogo Furuhashi and captain Callum McGregor were enough to send Celtic top of the league on goal difference ahead of Aberdeen.
