A body believed to be Jonty Evans’ has been found in the River Weaver in Cheshire

Police searching for a missing 16-year-old boy have recovered a body from a river.

Jonty Evans, 16, had last been since in his home town of Nantwich, Cheshire, at around 11pm on Friday night.

Search and rescue teams have been focusing their efforts in and around the nearby River Weaver, Nantwich Lake and a weir near Mill Island.

The body has not been formally identified but detectives believe it to be Jonty’s, and his family have been informed of the discovery.

It’s not clear how Jonty might have reached the river, which is a two-hour walk or fifteen-minute drive away from Nantwich at its closest point.

DI Ashy Sayer of Cheshire Police previously said the force was ‘increasingly concerned for Jonty’s welfare’.
