WHITEWATER TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WXIX) – A driver is under arrest on charges of aggravated vehicular assault in connection with a crash that left his 22-year-old passenger fighting for her life, court records show.

Frankie Andriola, 22, of Green Township is held without bond at the Hamilton County Justice Center.

He is scheduled to make his first court appearance in the case at 9 a.m. Monday.

According to the crash report and court records, Andriola admitted to drinking alcohol before speeding 124 mph in a 65 mph zone on Interstate 275 early June 9.

He also told an official with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office that he was arguing with his passenger, a Cleves woman who is now 23, when he lost control of his vehicle on Interstate 275 in Whitewater Township early June 9, according to the crash report.

The 2015 Acura TLX was taking a curve when Andriola lost control of the sedan and the vehicle became “vertically displaced in a clockwise manner as it exited off the right side of the road,” a sheriff’s corporal wrote in the affidavit.

The front and right sides of the Acura hit a guardrail. The impact damaged about a 100-foot-long section of the guardrail along with a solar-powered traffic count station belonging to the Ohio Department of Transportation, according to the crash report.

“During the collision, the unrestrained front seat passenger sustained serious life-threatening injuries and was taken to UC (hospital emergency room),” the affidavit states.

“The driver admitted to the investigating officer to consuming alcoholic beverages prior to operating the vehicle,” the crash report states. “The driver consented to a blood test and a sample was obtained at the hospital.”
