The victims were taken to Dell Seton Medical Center with serious injuries.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Fire Department (AFD) is currently on scene of an apartment fire where two people were injured in North Austin.

According to AFD division chief Mark Bridges, crews arrived around 5 a.m. to an apartment complex on the 500 block of west Longspur Blvd.

Bridges said the fire spread from outside to two units on the second and third floor, with several people located on the third story.

Two victims were taken to Dell Seton Medical Center with serious injuries, according to the Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (ATCEMS). Two others were evaluated for injuries but did not need further medical assistance, according to Bridges.

AFD said the fire has since been knocked down, but that two or three apartment complexes were involved and at least 30 people are temporarily without shelter.

Of these, at least four or five individuals won’t be able to return to their units, Bridges said.

Investigators are currently working to learn what started the fire.
