BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) – The Associated Businesses of Bridgeport’s annual Scarecrow Display is back this year with a festive twist!

This year, they have added a new event called Trick or Treat With the Scarecrows, which will take place along Main Street on Sunday, October 27th from 4 to 6 p.m. Families can collect candy from the scarecrows and enjoy a community Halloween party at the Benedum Civic Center from 6 to 7 p.m.

Businesses will be busy crafting scarecrows to be displayed on Main Street with a deadline of October 7th for setup.

Scarecrow photos will be posted online for a People’s Choice vote from October 10th through the 30th, and the winner will be announced on Halloween.

All ABB member businesses with dues paid are eligible for participation.

“The scarecrow display has been popular for the past several years, so of course we wanted to continue that tradition. We decided to kick it up a notch with the trick-or-treat event, giving local families a reason to dress up in costume and see the scarecrows up close and business hosts a chance to interact with the community,” said Hilary Gonzalez of the ABB Board. “The ABB loves giving the community an occasion to gather and have fun. We have a great group of member businesses who always step up to the plate to make these events fun and memorable.”
