The victim died on scene, according to the Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services.

AUSTIN, Texas — One person is dead after getting hit by a vehicle while cycling early Wednesday morning in South Austin. 

According to the Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (ATCEMS), the incident happened just before 1 a.m. at 5500 S. Congress Ave., not far from Stassney Lane. 

Responders said a driver crashed into an adult cyclist, who was injured and later died on scene. 

Road closures are currently in effect in the area, and drivers should expect delays until further notice. 

No new details are available at this time.
