A dad-of-three has died in hospital two weeks after he was involved in a horror crash in Cumbernauld.

Officers from Police Scotland have named Jonathan Bruce who sadly passed away following the smash on the A8011, Glasgow Road.

His family has described the 34-year-old as a “doting dad” and “caring husband”. Jonathan was in a single vehicle crash in the North Lanarkshire town at around 9.05pm on Saturday, August 17.

He was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where staff first described his condition as “critical”. Tragically, he died in hospital on Sunday, September 1.

Jonathan’s family said: “Jonny was a loving, caring husband, and a doting Dad to his three children. He was loved by so many and a great friend to everyone who knew him.

“We ask for privacy at what is a very difficult time for us as we try and come to terms with our loss.”

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and officers continue to appeal for information.

Road Policing Sergeant Ross Allison said: “Our thoughts are with Jonathan’s family and friends at this difficult time and we’ll continue to keep them updated as our investigations progress.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has come forward with information so far. Anyone who has information or dashcam footage of the area around the time, and hasn’t spoken to police yet, please get in touch.”
