A man has bravely shared how his life changed after doctors were forced to remove the majority of his penis following a devastating accident.

Detailing his experience on Reddit, he invited the online community to ask him candid questions about the ordeal, his current sex life, and dealing with the aftermath of the surgery.

Describing the initial incident, the 33-year-old revealed: “It was a motorcycle accident. Got hit by a pickup truck. The bike got ruined and something sharp jammed on my tight and split my wiener.” After an attempt to reconstruct it, he divulged: “Doctors did a reconstruction but it got infected a week later and the whole thing had to be amputated, I nearly died from it. I can get one constructed but I’m terrified from the infection and can’t go through with it yet.”

Regarding his mental health post-accident, he shared: “Mentally, the first year was awful and I have spent so much time with my shrink. I felt I was no longer a man and didn’t want to stay married and felt I could never look at my wife again.”

Addressing his sexual well-being, he disclosed: “The sexual desire was and is there but I have tried a lot to suppress it, especially in the beginning because well you know why. I still get depressed about it but I have learned to cope for the most part.”

Many were curious about the man’s sexual function after losing his penis, to which he candidly replied that while he still experiences arousal and ejaculation – it simply “oozes out” rather than being more forceful. His words were: “It just oozes out of me. My wife gets a kick out of it but I find it weird.”

He also shared his initial experiences of ‘phantom’ sensations where he would instinctively reach for his penis, only to remember it was gone. He expressed: “Ghost morning wood is a thing. For a while I’d go to grab it and it wasn’t there. These were dark days.”

Upon hearing his story, many offered messages of support. One impressed user commented: “I wanna say you’re a f****** DAWG. Reading your first year feelings and how you’re doing NOW plus all the other ways you have had to adjust and I admire the s*** out of you.”

Another responded with empathy and personal insights, saying: “As someone who has had RFF phalloplasty (penis reconstruction) I just want to say that medically things have come so far. When you are ready and if you are ever interested, the success rates are very good now. They harvested nerves from my forearm to connect to mine nerves in my groin and with a bit of nerve therapy and mind work I can honestly say I’m shocked at how much and how good the sensation is in my new penis!”
