MORGANTOWN, W.Va (WDTV) – A local business owner made a donation that will help make cancer patients more comfortable.

Danielle Martin, the owner of a sewing business called Icelandic Ponies, made 20 mastectomy pillows and donated them to the Mon Health Cancer Center in Morgantown.

The pillows help support people’s upper body and can relieve pressure in the area after getting a mastectomy.

Martin started her business in order to create things that improve people’s lives, so donating these pillows just made sense to her, she said.

She also said that two members of her family have gone through cancer treatment, so she wanted to help make a difference.

“I’ve watched both my partner and my mother survive cancer treatment, and I know it was the hardest thing they’ve ever gone through,” said Martin. “Cancer can be physically and emotionally draining. I want to make functional products that enhance people’s lives and that bring them comfort during a difficult time. I hope that my pillows bring patients a little bit of joy and let them know that they are not alone, and that people care about them.”
