MERCER COUNTY, W.Va. – The Mercer County Animal Shelter is once again waiving adoptions fees as they look to try and free up some space as the summer winds down.

Now through Saturday the shelter’s director, Stacey Harman says you won’t have to pay a penny in adoption fees when picking up a new cat or dog. On Saturday the shelter will be having what it’s calling a “Fall Out of Summer Adoption and Vendor Event.”

“We are extremely full. We really need to move some dogs out,” said Harman. “We have every size, from small to big. We even have some full blooded German shepherd puppies in there.”

Food trucks and vendors will be stationed at the shelter from 12 pm to 6 pm. A raffle drawing will also be held to benefit the shelter with people getting the chance to win treats and toys for their beloved pets.

Harman says she still has a couple of vendor spots open for Saturday’s event. She says if you’re interested in being a vendor you should message the shelter’s Facebook page.
