Spanishburg, W.Va. – A Spanishburg, West Virginia man and his wife are continuing to pray for a miracle.

After a rollover crash on August 8th in Wilcox, Arizona nearly claimed his son, Gibson Stapleton’s, life nearly a month ago.

“[He] over corrected and he rolled the vehicle three times and was ejected.”

Gibson still in the hospital and still in intensive care suffering a traumatic brain injury.

Chorus Nylander with NBC affiliate, KVOA, spoke with the parents as they open up about this tragedy and their son’s long road to recovery.

“There’s a lot of work to do but you know you take each day, every morning is new, the mercies of God are new each day and we’re thankful for every step, little progress that he makes,” Luther Stapleton told Nylander with KVOA-TV.

It is unknown at this time how long Gibson Stapleton will remain in the ICU or how the extent of brain damage sustained. The Stapleton’s tell KVOA-TV the rehab process will be lengthy once it can begin.
