The student center and cafeteria at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Conn. were closed Wednesday afternoon after the threat of a pipe bomb was reported.

The small Connecticut school sent an alert across campus around 2 p.m. after a student notified the university about a suspicious post on Yik Yak, a social media app that allows users to anonymously connect with others at their school.

The post in question said there was a pipe bomb in the bathroom of the Carl Hanson Student Center, which is connected to the Tator Hall Academic Building.

Both buildings were evacuated while students and staff were advised to stay away from the area.

The buildings were closed as the Regional Bomb Squad swept the premises. An all-clear was given a few hours later after no explosives were found.

Both buildings reopened, though classes at Tator Hall were moved to remote for the remainder of the day.

It’s unknown who posted the social media threat.
