MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WSMV/Gray News) – A pastor and his family are safe after their home was the subject of severe gunfire overnight.

The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting that left the home of Greg Locke, pastor of Global Vision Bible Church in Mt. Juliet, riddled with damage.

The sheriff’s office said gunfire erupted outside the home late Tuesday night.

Locke said he returned home with his family and found his home had been shot at by a “madman.”

The sheriff’s office confirmed Locke’s home was hit by between 30-50 bullets during the shooting. Damage was found to the exterior of the home, to the vehicles parked outside, and some damage inside the home.

Locke’s son was home at the time but was not injured.

“Only one of our kids was home and thank God not in the same area of the house,” the pastor said.

Locke said he thinks he just missed encountering whoever shot up his home by mere minutes based on his security footage at his property.

Locke is the founder and lead pastor of Global Vision Bible Church in Mt. Juliet. The church has been the target of vandalism and widespread criticism in recent years over hard stances taken by Locke and his congregation on social issues and associated political campaigns.

Locke just recently announced his church would be relocating.

The church often holds revivals that cause major traffic issues for residents of Mt. Juliet.
