ScotRail has issued travel advice for Buddies heading to Hampden Park for the men’s national team’s first match in the UEFA Nations League.
Scotland will kick off their campaign with a match against Poland at the national stadium at 7.45pm tonight.
To help supporters travel to and from the match, ScotRail is adding extra services between Glasgow Central and Mount Florida, the closest station to Hampden Park. Fans using those services should expect longer queuing times and allow extra time for travel.
Fans are advised to make their way back to Mount Florida as quickly as possible after the final whistle. Customers are also reminded that Mount Florida station can only be accessed from Cathkinview Road, and onto Bolton Drive via Clincart Road after the match.
ScotRail is currently operating a temporary timetable due to a shortage of train drivers being available for overtime or rest day working, as is their contractual right, as a result of a dispute over pay. The train operator is strongly advising customers to plan ahead and check their journey on the ScotRail app.
ScotRail is also encouraging customers to buy their train tickets in advance via the mTicket system on the ScotRail app.
Phil Campbell, ScotRail customer operations director, said: “We’re looking forward to helping fans travel by train to watch the men’s national team play Poland at Hampden Park on Thursday night.
“We’re adding more train services between Glasgow Central and Mount Florida to help supporters travel to and from the match, and we’ll have additional staff on hand to help.
“Our advice to customers is to leave extra time for travel as trains are likely to be busier than normal. Buying tickets in advance through our mTickets system will reduce your queuing time.”
