BBC Gardeners’ World star Adam Frost has admitted to a constant “tussle” with his spouse concerning their own garden, offering fans an insight into his personal life away from the show.

Adam has captured the affection of audiences on the respected BBC programme, earning respect for his gardening expertise and his distinguished work at the Chelsea Flower Show. Now 53, the well-known TV presenter has been a nature enthusiast since his youth, spending many hours in his grandparents’ greenhouse.

Although he’s well known on television, Adam’s passion for horticulture extends off-screen as well. He once revealed on the Mike The Gardener podcast that he’s been cultivating his own new garden space at home.

However, the journey hasn’t been free of conflict, as he openly discussed having differing opinions with his wife about their garden design. Speaking with podcast host Mike Palmer, Adam acknowledged that they didn’t always see eye-to-eye on the outdoor project.

He touched on the topic of who rules the roost when it comes to gardening during the podcast, saying: “I try and apply the rules, let’s say I apply the rules 80% of the time.”, reports Devon Live.

“But then, all of a sudden, the plantaholic gets in there, and then it goes a little bit wry and he starts planting the other things that he shouldnt be planting.”

“Mrs Frost plays a big part, the battle in the garden really is I’m quite untidy and I like everything to be really scruffy around the edges, she is not so into all that.”

Adam revealed during the podcast episode that the garden’s layout had “all been planned” and he was currently setting up the structural plants and beginning to arrange the herbacious layers.

Nonetheless, he confessed that the most significant “battle” between him and his wife revolves around the upkeep of their garden, particularly when he’s away for several days.

He went on to say: “I would say that there’s one moment of tension in our garden. It’s when I go away for a few days and I come back and I’m sure my garden is a lot tidier.”

“And then I’m meant to be grateful that it looks tidier.”

Esteemed British landscape artist Adam has openly talked about sharing his gardening passion with his spouse Sulina and their four offspring, Abi-Jade, Jacob, Amber-Lily, and Oakley.

Viewers can look forward to seeing Adam again tonight, September 6, as he graces our television screens with the newest installment of Gardeners’ World. Together with Arit Anderson, they will give viewers an exclusive peek at the East Ruston Old Vicarage in Norfolk, diving into the history of this exquisite garden established over fifty years ago by its creators.
