A battle between residents on a cul-de-sac and parents from a neighbouring school has escalated in the Home Counties.

The Meadowcroft estate is connected by footpath to St Hilda’s Preparatory School for Girls in Bushey, Hertfordshire, which makes it the perfect place for parents to drop off their daughters.

Around 18 months ago, cameras were installed and anyone parking without a permit automatically gets a fine.

Then a couple of months ago ‘private road’ was scrawled across the road at the entrance.

In the latest development, a suspected resident has started blocking a footpath to the school with their car.

One St Hilda’s parent says they’re ‘genuinely worried’ for their children’s safety.

It’s been claimed there have been further verbal clashes as parents kept using the cul-de-sac to drop their kids off for summer activities during the school holidays.

The 41-year-old dad, who received two fines costing £120 in total for parking there last year, said: ‘We completely respect the residents’ right to privacy and we don’t want to intrude.

‘Parents are genuinely worried for their children’s safety and we just want to take our children to and from school.

‘Now we have to park on the other side and navigate quite an extremely busy road everyday.

‘I don’t think we cause any disruption by walking through the area.’
