MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF/WDBJ) – A Virginia State Police trooper is out on bond after his arrest in Myrtle Beach.

Myrtle Beach police arrested Darren Roberts, 30, and charged him with kidnapping, first-degree domestic violence and first-degree criminal sexual conduct, jail records show.

Roberts is now on administrative leave without pay after his arrest, reports our sister station in Roanoke, Va., WDBJ.

Police responded Monday to 3000 North Ocean Boulevard for an assault. Online records match that address to the Caribbean Resort & Villas.

The victim told investigators Roberts physically and sexually assaulted them during an argument in a hotel room, according to arrest warrants.

The warrants also state the victim was held down against their will and strangled during the assault.

Officers said they noticed “multiple injuries” on the victim’s body.

Roberts was assigned to the Wytheville Division Area 24 Office in Pulaski County, WDBJ reports.

He posted a $20,000 bond and was released from the J. Reuben Long Detention Center Wednesday.
