BEAVERTON, Ore. — Beaverton Police arrested a man Friday evening they said murdered a woman who had been reported missing.
Melissa Jubane had first been reported missing the morning of September 4 when she failed to show up for her shift as a nurse at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center.
Her disappearance set of searches by friends and family, as well as a police investigation.
During that investigation, police said they determined that one of Jubane’s neighbors, 27-year-old Bryce Johnathan Schubert, was involved in her disappearance.
Police said in a news release that they found Jubane’s remains and arrested Schubert on a murder charge. They declined to release any more information about what happened leading up to Jubane’s death.
“Our deepest condolences go out to Melissa’s family, friends and coworkers,” a Beaverton Police spokesman said in a statement.
Dozens of friends and co-workers showed up at Jubane’s apartment complex off SW 160th Avenue in Beaverton to search for the woman throughout the day on Friday.
“She’s just a ball of joy,” said Samantha Oregon, who helped organize the searches. “She was always happy, you know. Whenever I had rough days, she would bring me back.”

Friends told KGW that Jubane had just gotten married.
A Providence spokesperson said hospital staff were heartbroken at the news of Jubane’s death.
“This comes as a shock to us all and she is mourned by her co-workers. Melissa was an exceptional nurse, committed to our Providence Mission and daily demonstrating our values of compassion, excellence and integrity,” the spokesperson said in a statement.
