Viral popstar Tinashe had her cameo dropped from Selling Sunset, star Chrishell Stause has revealed.

The R&B music artist, 31, was behind one of the biggest hits of the summer after her song Nasty – from her 2024 album Quantum Baby – took TikTok by storm.

The lyrics ‘I been a nasty girl’ will be familiar to anyone on the social media platform over the past few months.

The sound was popularised by British dancer Nate de Winer after it dropped in April and has since been used for over 5.1 million videos (with some estimates predicting it could be closer to 10 million).

It even climbed to number 61 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 66 on the UK charts, the singer’s first lead entry since 2014 with 2 On. As such it has officially been proclaimed TikTok’s song of the summer, taking the title from last year’s winner, Dave and Central Cee’s Sprinter.

But even Tinashe’s skyrocketing popularity wasn’t enough to see her make the cut for the latest season of Netflix’s reality real estate series Selling Sunset.

The show follows The Oppenheim Group, an elite real estate broker in Los Angeles who regularly work with celebrity clients to clinch them the home of their dreams.

In a post-show Instagram dump, 43-year-old Chrishell shared that Tinashe was meant to be involved in season eight, but alas her scenes didn’t quite make the final cut.

‘Thank you Tinashe for being amazing! Happy to help you anytime again. Was sad it wasn’t included,’ Chrishell wrote alongside a photo of herself and Tinashe smiling with their arms around each other.

It is unclear exactly what Tinashe’s cameo would have entailed, and now it won’t see the light of day. Nor has Tinashe addressed her removal.

Fans were mourning in the comments with @ethannquinn writing: ‘WHY WOULD THEY NOT INCLUDE TINAHSEEEE????’

And @mattxiv echoing: ‘They scrapped TINASHE……….’

Tinashe joins a handful of other guests who won’t appear in the fresh batch of episodes even including Chrishell’s spouse, G Flip.

‘Was surprised where we are and where we’ve been in our family process didn’t make it. Very sweet of you to film for me even though I know you don’t love it. I love you,’ Chrishell continued in her caption.

As well as a few scenes with members of the squad such as Mary Bonnet and Alanna Gold.

It makes British reality star Joey Essex’s cameo on the show even more shocking – with fans left ‘screaming’ over his sudden appearance.

He was there, alongside his £10million fortune (partly made through real estate investment), to tour a £5.2million mansion in Chelsea.

Amid the surprising mix of inclusions and absences, the latest season has also brought its usual drama.

Most recently, the cast became embroiled in a feud after it came to light that agent Nicole Young was spreading rumours about colleague Emma Hernan having an affair with a married man.

Chrishell took to Instagram threatening to ‘quit the show’ after Nicole ‘spewed a disgusting lie’ about her bestie.

She also criticised the production company, Done and Done, for not giving Emma the chance to ‘defend herself with the truth’.

Metro.co.uk has reached out to Netflix and Tinsahe’s representatives for comment.
