Slow Horses season 4 has already set a new record for Apple TV Plus.

Gary Oldman’s dysfunctional police drama returned to rave reviews again last week, kicking off with a new twist that has already sent its fans into meltdown.

Its fourth series boasts a perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes score meaning the critically-acclaimed thriller has never dipped below 98% since it launched in 2021.

Despite Apple TV arguably boasting the most consistently high standard of content across all streaming services, Slow Horses’ latest achievement means it is officially the streamer’s highest-rated show ever.

Metro.co.uk gave Slow Horses a rare five-star rating and said it ‘should be bigger than Line of Duty’.

Viewers agreed, with James Lees posting on X: ‘Episode 1 of Season 4 was absolutely amazing. This should be the biggest show in the U.K.’

Ninalaland added: ‘I am so happyyy Slow Horses is baack I missed the team. I loved this first episode it was a rollercoaster of emotions my only complaint is that it was too short !!’

PAL1882 went even further, posting: ‘Best series on British television bar none!’

The latest series sees The Matrix star Hugo Weaving join the cast as another villain, and Joanna Scanlan also makes her Slow Horses debut as Jackson Lamb’s new secretary Moira.

They join the cast already made up of A-listers including Oldman, Kristen Scott-Thomas, Jack Lowden, and Jonathan Pryce.

A fifth season has already been commissioned and with plenty of source material from Mick Herron’s literary series to lift from, it wouldn’t be unrealistic to expect a sixth too.
