Stuart Hogg has been arrested for a third time this year – just hours before he was due to stand trial. The former Scotland rugby captain, 32, was set to appear at Jedburgh Sheriff Court over alleged stalking on Tuesday.

However, it has now emerged the full-back was arrested again on Monday. He was charged in connection with stalking offences and breach of bail conditions and is due to appear in court today.

Hogg was previously arrested in February and July. In May, he appeared in the dock where he denied abusing and stalking his estranged wife Gillian, 37, over a seven-year period.

Hogg was also accused of monitoring her communications and controlling her family life. He was also charged under section one of the Domestic Abuse Scotland Act after allegedly engaging in a course of behaviour which was “abusive”.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 32-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with stalking offences and breach of bail conditions.

“He is due to appear before Jedburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday, 10 September, 2024, and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”

Hogg is currently signed with French side Montpelier after coming out of retirement.
