VIENNA, Va. (WUSA) – A group of high school students from Virginia surprised their school’s custodian with his dream car to show their appreciation for all that he does.

Students at James Madison High School learned their favorite custodian, Francis Apraku, has a special place in his heart for Jeeps, so they decided to find a way to gift him one for his birthday.

With this goal in mind, the students started a GoFundMe six months ago to raise money for Apraku’s dream Jeep. They ended up with $20,000.

“He’s more than just a custodian. He’s a dear friend to all of us. He’s just a very kind, genuine person,” one of the students said.

The high schoolers cashed out the money and partnered with a local dealership to get Apraku a cherry red Jeep Wrangler – just in time for the fall. They surprised the custodian with his new car Monday.

Apraku was overwhelmed with excitement and gratitude.

“Today is a wonderful day in my life, and I will never forget it,” he said.

The students say seeing Apraku’s reaction to his Jeep felt incredible.

“I’m excited to see him whipping it around school, seeing him every day… He really deserves it,” one student said.
