After her former partner Eamonn Holmes was seen with a younger companion, heartache touched Ruth Langsford as she shared candid thoughts on ageing.

The 64-year-old Loose Women star and the ex-ITV host, also aged 64, surprised their followers with news of their split this year. While Ruth took some time off from the spotlight, Eamonn appeared back on our screens, now seemingly in the company of his friend Katie Alexander, who’s 42.

The GB News presenter recently enjoyed a lavish cruise with Katie, with snaps showing the pair ready to set sail from Barcelona port. Meanwhile, Ruth has carried on with her presenting role at ITV, discussing her feelings about getting older with fellow panellists Coleen Nolan, Brenda Edwards, and Kelly Holmes, reports the Mirror.

Discussing her struggles, Ruth opened up: “When I hit 60, it seems to have happened very quickly. You know me, I don’t tend to worry much about age. But at 60 until now, I’m 64, I feel that everything has drooped and sagged and I have a funny neck.”

She captures her challenge with self-image: “I can see it. When you take a selfie or something, whereas before I didn’t really notice. Now I do and I go, ‘Ugh, look at that’.”

Her resolve remains despite the hurdles: “We promote very much on here, body positivity, confidence – age is just a number. I teeter on this tightrope of trying hard to be that woman, ‘Age is just a number, count your blessing in life, all my friends look like this’.

“Then I have those moments where I could fall off the tightrope and go, ‘Look at my neck’, It’s awful.”

After Ruth made her return to Loose Women on Monday, fans were quick to express their worry. One took to Twitter, posting: “Cannot be easy for Ruth when Eamonn features in most newspapers.”

Another commented: “You can tell that Ruth has been hurting from the pictures of Eamonn with her younger blondie, Ruth looks like she has been crying as her eyes looks puffed up,” and went on to say: “I can’t wait to see Ruth’s new boyfriend #loosewomen.”

“How Gorgeous did @RuthieeL look on the trailer on this morning? Adorable,” shared another admirer, while a fourth queried: “#Loosewomen How are you doing today Ruth,” attaching a blowing kiss gif.

Weekend snaps showed Eamonn on a mobility scooter with his new partner Katie at his side, kicking off a cruise. Shayne Ward, appearing on Monday’s Loose Women to talk about his Channel 5 series The Good Ship Murder, which unfolds on a cruise ship, nearly caused an awkward moment.

When Shayne enquired: “Who loves being on a cruise?” all eyes turned to Ruth before she smoothly concluded the interview.
