A man has died and a woman was found injured following a disturbance last night in Ayrshire.
Around 8.25pm on Tuesday, September 10, police officers were called to a report of a disturbance in the Montgomerie Street area of Ardrossan.
Emergency services attended and a 24-year-old woman was found injured outside a block of flats. She was taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock for treatment.
However, a 59 year-old man was also pronounced dead within a flat. His family is aware.
A 40-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries remain ongoing.
A police presence remains in the area and anyone with any concerns or information can approach these officers.
