Today marks National Guacamole Day – so what better way to celebrate than tucking into some chips and dip.

Whether you’re dolloping it onto chilli con carne, enjoying it in burritos or smothering it on top of toast, smashed avo is an absolute staple for many.

And if you’ve mastered the traditional recipe, we’ve got a little twist on the classic that may whet your appetite too. Avocado mayonnaise is another dip in a similar realm – and it’s absolutely “delicious”.

@Easy_recipes9680 posted a cooking tutorial on TikTok, which can be “made in minutes”. To viewers’ delight, the special ingredient is something you never would’ve thought to include.

Start by cutting a large avocado in half, removing the pit and cutting it into smaller chunks to put into a blender. Next, juice a lime and leave it in a bowl on the side.

Now comes the secret ingredient – three boiled eggs. First, cut them in half and then into smaller bits. You also need to add all the chopper avocado into a blender, along with the egg.

You then need two tablespoons of olive oil to help “thicken” the mayonnaise. Add a teaspoon of salt, half a teaspoon of ground oregano, and a pinch of hot black pepper, and then “turn on the blender and blend everything at high speed”.

When you’ve achieved a nice chunky texture, pour in the lime juice to really amp up the flavours. This acidic product also stops the dip from going brown and tasting stale.

Apparently, “it will last you up to two months fresh” once put into a clean and air-tight container. This makes it a brilliant option for meal prepping or batch cooking. So will you give it a go? Let us know in the comments below.
