The course instructors will take each group through the whole event. For those who don’t want to do certain obstacles, the instructors can provide alternatives to get everyone to the finish line.

Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland team is looking forward to the event in Ayrshire to raise funds for the vital services.

Community, Events & Corporate Fundraiser (South) Aimee Russell said: “We work with people who have had a stroke or had a heart attack as well as with people who are living with lung conditions such as COPD or struggling after effects of long covid.

“Every day in Scotland, 41 people have a stroke, 32 people have a heart attack, 16 people are diagnosed with heart failure, and 15 people struggle to breathe because of chronic chest illness. One in five people in Scotland suffer from one of these conditions.

“Every day people in Scotland feel scared and alone after being diagnosed. But our team is making sure people don’t have to recover alone.

“By raising money for Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland participants will be helping to fund crucial services such as an advice line.

“There are also peer support groups across Scotland where people can socialise, with each group offering their own programme of activities.

“We also offer stroke nurse services to help people recovering from a stroke. And we have kindness callers where our volunteers provide regular phone calls to help reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness. “

Aimee added: “The conditions are so prevalent in Scotland, so people who will take part in our event would be helping someone that they know or someone that they did know living with one of the conditions.”

The event will start at 10am on December 7 and will run until the last team has completed the course.

Participants can come dressed in Christmas attire such as jumpers and Santa hats but are advised to not wear anything they don’t want ruined as they will get very mucky.

The event has a £10 per adult and £5 per child entry fee.

The health charity is also encouraging participants to raise a minimum of £50 per person on their Just Giving Sponsorship.
