A total of 11 new column-mounted CCTV cameras could be installed in Toryglen to combat anti-social behaviour.

Planning applications for the eleven cameras were submitted in April for the following areas; Prospecthill Place, Prospecthill Crescent, Prospecthill Road, Drumreoch Drive, Glenmore Avenue, Corlaich Drive, Corlaich Avenue, Ardmory Lane, Ardnahoe Avenue and Kerrycroy Avenue.

Of the submitted applications, four have been approved.

The applications were submitted by Sanctuary Scotland Housing Association to address “fly-tipping, vandalism and anti-social behaviour”.

Despite that, local residents have made objections.

One said: “The CCTV faces all but one of my home windows and the moveable/zoom function of the CCTV leaves me feeling that my privacy within my own home is violated by the proposed CCTV plans.

“I am not happy that my daily coming and goings will be watched by strangers.”
