Hawkhead in Paisley was awash with emergency services vehicles this morning after a person was struck by a car.

Police have shut down Hawkhead Road as the response to the incident continues, with around a dozen cop cars dotted along the road and ambulance crews tending to the injured.

The incident occurred around 8.10am close to the Gulf petrol garage on the road next to the Mary Russell School.

The age and condition of the crash victim has not yet been revealed and the road remains closed.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Hawkhead Road in Paisley is closed from Hurlet Road, after a person was struck by a car around 8.10am this morning. Emergency services are in attendance. We’d ask drivers to use an alternative route.”

The Scottish Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
