BECKLEY, W.Va. – WVU Tech and Mount Vernon (OH) Nazarene Women’s Soccer played only 45 minutes of their match on Wednesday afternoon.

The game was delayed with just 2 minutes left in halftime because of lightning strikes in the surrounding areas.

After about an hour and 15 minutes of both teams waiting around, the match was canceled due to the inclement weather.

Before the halftime buzzer rang, The Golden Bears were down 1-0 after Bekah Blair of Mount Vernon broke the scoreless tie in the 36th minute.

Since the match is a no-contest, it does not reflect on either team’s record.

WVU Tech will play again this Saturday, the 21st, at 2:00 p.m., against Shaw University in another match at YMCA Paul Cline Memorial Sports Complex in Beckley.
