A man has been charged after three people were hit by a car outside a nightclub in Moray.

Officers from Police Scotland were called to Cluny Square in Buckie after the alarm was raised at around 2am on Saturday, September 21. Earlier we told how the area in the town was cordoned off with a small grey forensic tent erected outside the Purple Nightclub.

Two men were rushed to hospital following the incident and their conditions remain unknown. Cops carried out an investigation into the incident and a 56-year-old man was arrested in connection.

Cops have confirmed he has now been charged. He is due to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court on Monday, September 23.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2am on Saturday, September 21, 2024, we were called to a report of three men injured after being struck by a car in Cluny Square, Buckie. Emergency services attended and two men taken to hospital.

“A 56-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He is due to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court on Monday, September 23, 2024.”
