A family has been left gutted after an unidentified vandal trashed their essential car as it sat parked in the street outside their Scots home.
The mystery thug struck in Musselburgh, East Lothian, between last night and this morning, smashing the window of the car in question.
Emanuela Alletta said she woke up this morning to discover the damage, which resulted in smashed glass being left all over the back seats of the vehicle.
The 48-year-old, who works as a yoga teacher, and her husband use the car to travel to work, run general errands, and drop the kids at after-school clubs.
Edinburgh Live reports that the mum-of-three said she phoned police on Sunday morning but officers are not able to visit the scene of the incident until Tuesday September 24.
The act took place on Newbigging in Musselburgh overnight between Saturday 21 and Sunday 22. Emanuela said: “I parked the car overnight as we live on the street. We usually always park there and we came out in the morning and the back glass was smashed.
“Nothing was stolen but we rely on the car to get to work. I have to get to different leisure centres and my husband owns a cleaning company so sometimes he uses it for travel as well as for taking the kids to activities.
“This has left me feeling upset, angry and powerless. It feels like authorities are not on our side and do not value the community’s feelings. I called the police today but they will not come out until Tuesday.”
Anyone with information on the incident has been asked to call Police Scotland on 101.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of vandalism to a car in Newbigging, Musselburgh, on Sunday, September 22, 2024. Officers will be making contact with the complainer to gain further information.”
