Kate Middleton on Sunday made her first public appearance since finishing chemotherapy, attending church alongside her family.
The Princess of Wales was seen on her way to Crathie Kirk Church near Balmoral Castle in Scotland. Her husband, Prince William, was driving the family to church on Sunday.
Sunday’s trip was only her third public appearance since she underwent abdominal surgery in January. She previously attended Trooping the Colour in June and the men’s singles final at Wimbledon in July.
On Sept. 9, Kate, 42, revealed she had completed her chemotherapy treatment, a program she announced in March.
“Doing what I can to stay cancer free is now my focus,” she wrote on social media. “Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes.”
The princess said she would resume official duties shortly after the announcement and she reportedly returned to work on Sept. 17.
On the way to church, Kate wore a brown tartan checkered coat and wide-brimmed dark green hat, according to People magazine. Prince William wore a dark suit. King Charles and Queen Camilla were also pictured on their way to church in separate cars.
“Despite all that has gone before I enter this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life,” Kate said in her post-chemo message. “William and I are so grateful for the support we have received and have drawn great strength from all those who are helping us at this time.”
