Bargain Hunt has returned to BBC One, with antiques guru Danny Sebastian sharing his wealth of experience with the competing red and blue teams. A self-taught antiques dealer for over 20 years, Danny began his journey at a tender age, accompanying his mother to auction houses and car boot sales.
His early career saw him as a market trader, where he quickly became known for his persuasive charm.
Danny first graced our screens on ‘Del Boys and Dealers’ before becoming a familiar face on ‘Dealing with Dickinson’. He eventually swapped the hustle of market trading for the world of antiques dealing.
When he’s not busy filming for shows like Bargain Hunt or enjoying time with his partner, Danny is scouring the country for hidden gems to sell via his business, Afrojunk, located in Wellingborough. Among his recent discoveries was a charming French vintage portrait.
On X, the platform that took over from Twitter, Danny describes himself as a “decorative dealer and a lover of people”, highlighting his commitment to sustainability, fortune, and a passion for plants. Vintage artwork ranks high among the items he loves to offer through Afrojunk, reports the Express.
Reflecting on his entry into the antiques industry, Danny shared: “It was fate! I was at an auction down south and stumbled across a room that was being prepared for a Mid-20th Century sale and all that I saw I just loved.”
He added with conviction, “Straight away I thought ‘I’m getting into this game; I’d love to sell this tackle’.”
Speaking candidly about a career path he hasn’t yet pursued, the celebrity shared his thoughts on what his life might entail if he hadn’t made a name for himself in the world of antiques.
He disclosed: “I’ve always thought of having my own bar, which could possibly still happen, but if I weren’t in the antiques game, who knows, I could be cleaning windows or flogging Ferraris.”
The star spoke about his leisure activities and preference for spirits, shedding light on his free-time habits.
“I honestly don’t get a lot of free time. So much to do and so many places to be. I do enjoy dog walks, dining, dancing, music, travel and the occasional drop of rum,” he revealed.
When it comes to indulging in lifes little luxuries, he confessed an affinity for stylish footwear.
“I do like a good pair of shoes – quality, style, design and comfort! Maybe my love comes from me being born in Cobblers County or is it because, with big slabs of meat, it’s important to have tidy feet,” he noted.
Bargain Hunt airs on BBC One on weekdays at 12.15pm
