Benidorm was hit by a deluge of rain over the weekend, turning its usually sunny streets damp and gloomy.

Holidaymakers were seen scrambling for umbrellas and seeking shelter, but the downpours didn’t dampen spirits as the Spanish town’s nightlife remained “bouncing” into the early hours.

Local YouTuberBenidorm By Ana’ captured the scene on Saturday (September 21), commenting in her video: “Autumn officially arrived in Benidorm town. There’s raincoats, umbrellas, and quite a busy atmosphere.”

Ana provided a tour of the resort during the storm, showing tourists braving the weather to shop and dine out, some equipped with waterproof ponchos to avoid getting wet. Her video also featured dramatic lightning strikes against the gloomy skies, accompanied by the sound of thunder.

She said: “Those who are tourists, you can definitely tell, because they are wearing raincoats. Us locals mostly use umbrellas for these purposes.” Despite the rain, Ana noted that the streets were as crowded as “any other Saturday” in Benidorm.

Rain also came down in the evenings, as depicted in a TikTok video by @Benidorm_grumet. He highlighted the “flooding” on the resort’s roads and walkways, but pointed out that Benidorm’s famed bars and clubs were still “bouncing”, with revellers undeterred by the stormy weather.

He filmed himself sitting at one of the resort’s popular bars. Despite the deserted outdoor seating soaked by rain, there was still a noticeable line for the sheltered bar.

In the comments below @Benidorm_grumet’s video, posted three days ago, Brits were bragging about the fine weather back home. One person commented: “Get yourself to Clacton it’s sun and 26C.”

Another joked: “It’s been lovely back here in Scotland roasting and no rain all week lol enjoy the rain.” A third shared: “I left there this morning at 6am it was hammering down! nicer back at home.”
