Scotland is forecast to get some unsettled weather over the next few days, with those in the north of the country set to see cooler temperatures and wet conditions.

According to the latest weather reports, Scots can expect the weather across Monday (September 23) to decline from 4pm onwards, with it getting worse as we head into tomorrow on Tuesday (September 24). It comes as weather alerts are in place across southern England as areas are hit with major flooding.

Speaking on Monday’s forecast, BBC meteorologist Gillian Smart said: “As we head into the evening the rain will work its way south heading through northern Scotland and into some central parts, with some heavy bursts in the mix.”

Tomorrow it will be breezy, with the east of Scotland catching the latter parts of the rain. For those in the south west, they will get the most of the “limited brightnesss” despite the unpredictable weather.

This is reflected on the temperatures, as those in the central belt will see slightly warmer conditions as we head into Monday evening. The Scottish capital in Edinburgh will sit around 11C, with Glasgow only slightly warmer 12C.

With the decline in good weather, and the expected rainfall, temperatures across the country will see the result of this. Those in the top end of Scotland will see a dip in temperatures from the change in forecast.

Fort William and Aberdeen are both expected to be around 10C on Monday evening, with those in the north of the country in Kirkwall, Durness and Stornoway sitting at a chilly 9C. This cold snap will soon make its way down across Scotland into Tuesday morning (September 24) as cold temperatures of 9C spread into areas across the central belt.

It comes as the UK is set to be washed out with flooding as a result of heavy rainfall in some areas. An Amber weather warning has been issued across parts of England including Oxford and Bath on Monday (September 23).

The Met Office has stated that it will be in place from 8.16am until 9pm tonight. For those in London, Brighton, Birmingham and as far as Manchester have also been issued a yellow weather warning for rain.

This is set to remain in place all of today on Monday and reports state that the amber weather warning to hit parts of the UK could result in flooding of some areas and lead to travel disruptions. Some local communities could even be cut off by flooded roads, with driving conditions expected to be affected among multiple road closures.
