GILES COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) – Giles County Sheriff’s Office has identified a student accused of making a threat to Macy McClaugherty Elementary/Middle School Wednesday, September 18.
Investigators identified the original source of the information and alleviated all safety concerns regarding the situation by the morning of Thursday, September 19, according to Giles County Sheriff’s Office. On the same day, investigators sought and obtained petitions on a juvenile with communicating a threat that was known to be false, a class 1 misdemeanor, according to deputies.
Giles County Sheriff’s Office encourages students and other members of the community to reach out to administrators, teachers, or parents when they suspect potential threats.
The sheriff’s office also reminds the public not to share this type of information across social media platforms.
