Gillian McKeith’s daughter has lifted the lid on what it was like growing up with a poo-obsessed mother.
Scottish TV personality Gillian is famous for dishing out health and nutrition advice, having worked with various medical professionals throughout her career.
The 64-year-old previously hosted Channel 4’s You Are What You Eat, and who could forget her 2010 stint on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! which involved a lot of Bushtucker trials and a lot of fainting.
Away from the screens, Gillian is a mother to two daughters, Skylar and Afton, both in their twenties and whom she shares with husband Howard Magaziner.
And, as you’d probably expect, having a mum notorious for checking human stool samples made for unwanted attention for her kids.
In a new interview, youngest child Afton revealed that, of course, Gillian checked her faeces as well, despite having been encouraged to eat a healthy diet from an early age.
She told the Daily Mail about her mother’s meticulous poo checks: ‘She is not obsessed with my poo as I’m quite healthy, but she has definitely checked it a few times.’
‘My sister used to keep a poo chart and would keep my mum informed!’, Afton added.
‘She brought us up eating very healthily and doing a lot of fitness. My favourite form of fitness is dancing! It’s a way of life for us, I don’t know any different.’
Afton also sang her mum’s praises, declaring it a ‘gift’ to have such knowledge about health and nutrition bestowed upon her thanks to Gillian’s work.
‘I ended up training in health and fitness, attaining 20 qualifications in the field. I am passionate about it as health is the most important aspect in life.’
However, the mother-daughter association didn’t always provoke the warmest of reactions from classmates.
‘Kids at school started coming up to me and asking if my mum is Gillian McKeith,’ Afton recalled.
‘I would go bright red, as I was quite shy and didn’t know what to say.’
Older sibling Skylar, who is now a lawyer, was slightly older when her mother rose to prominence, though, meaning she drew the short straw when it came to the reactions of her peers.
‘My sister was older and in secondary school when it all started, so she experienced some bullying’, Afton recounted.
While she isn’t so keen to follow in a certain aspect of her mum’s career, Afton is dipping her toe into the world of showbiz.
Performing is her ‘passion’, with Afton having trained in performing arts at Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts.
She’s already bagged roles in theatre shows and musicals, both TV and film, and recently flew to Los Angeles to work on an independent film.
The movie, currently titled Nick of Time, is slated for release in 2025 and will see Afton star opposite TikToker Nic Suarez.
As for her dream job, she’s keen to appear on Bridgerton – and already has the backing of a rather famous Netflix star.
Having bumped into Happy Gilmore’s Adam Sandler a couple of weeks ago, she shared: ‘He wished me good luck on my movie that I was filming while I was there!’
That isn’t her only interaction with a major star, oh no, as Afton also previously dated one of the Beckham boys.
In 2017, Afton was romanced by Brooklyn after attending school with the eldest of the family.
Unfortunately, their relationship didn’t last, but Afton did get to meet David and Victoria, describing the Spice Girl as ‘protective’ over her eldest.
As for Gillian, once dubbed Dr Poo, she’s since taken her work to other platforms, sharing her poo advice on TikTok and creating Cameos for fans.
