Davina McCall set pulses racing in the latest instalment of ITV’s My Mum, Your Dad as she surprised the contestants with a brand-new space in their retreat called the snug.
In an unexpected revelation during Monday’s show aired on September 23, spectators were privy to the wrench thrown into the works when children were granted the power to elect a parent for some private time in this new area.
49 year old Danny from Sussex was voted by the offspring to occupy the intimate zone, who then chose to invite 51 year old Jenny from Cheshire with him. Much to the children’s surprise and unknown to them, the duo had the option to cut the live feed to the video bunker that normally allows the kids to observe their parents’ activities.
Ellis, Danny’s son, along with Malachi, Jenny’s lad, looked on alongside others in shock as the screen went dark, biting nails over the mystery of what went down without their prying eyes.
Having initially met inside the confines of the My Mum, Your dad pastoral abode on day one, Jenny and Danny’s chemistry has only burgeoned with each episode. Yet, their recent stint on ITV’s This Morning stirred up a storm of speculation among viewers about the longevity of their relationship, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Grilling the couple, host Ben Shephard questioned the durability of their connection, getting nothing but a deep inhale from Jenny and a vague retort from Danny, teasing: “You’ve got to keep watching haven’t we?”
Co-host Cat Deeley was all ears trying to fish for more gossip, but it was Ben who underscored their peculiar physical distance, commenting, “They’ve separated a little bit, I can’t quite work it out.”
Danny revealed a sneak peek of the dynamic among the participants by saying, “The one spoiler I’ll give is that absolutely all of us have come out completely and utterly best friends and will be lifelong friends.”
However, it didn’t escape the notice of many viewers that there was a noticeable gap between them on the couch, sparking speculation that they might no longer be friendly.
A viewer commented, “‘It was all filmed so long ago’ – what better way to say that you’re already distancing yourself from the show and that you’re not together and that this is a contractually obligated interview.”
Another remarked, “They cannot stand each other. But obviously contractually obliged by ITV to appear on shows like #thismorning to sell this b****cks.”
Another individual observed, “He doesn’t dislike her nearly as much as she dislikes him. #ThisMorning.” While someone else made light of the situation with a joke about their seating arrangement: “Jenny and Danny didn’t hit it off then? Danny will fall off the end of the sofa in a minute.”
