Horror fans have a lot to celebrate after it was revealed that one of the main stars of an iconic 90s flick is said to be returning to the sequel.
I Know What You Did Last Summer was released in 1997 and followed a group of teenagers who seemingly killed a man and covered it up before going on with their lives.
However, they found themselves stalked by a chilling, hook-wielding killer on the year-anniversary of the attack.
The original film starred Ryan Phillippe, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr, with the latter two returning for the 1998 follow-up.
It was previously announced that a follow-up to I Know What You Did Last Summer is on the way and Freddie has reportedly reprised his role as Ray Bronson, nearly three decades after it first hit the big screen.
Sources confirmed his return to Deadline but the outlet reports that Jennifer is still in negotiations to come back as Julie James.
Viewers were left thrilled by the news and flocked to social media to cheer the Scooby-Doo star’s return to the fold.
Taking to Reddit, Judgedreddie declared: ‘I think we can all use a little more FPJ in our lives.’
‘I’m conflicted because this doesn’t need a sequel but I also love Freddie Prince Jr [sic],’ Sleepy-Giraffe947 agreed.
Dareitsaid said: ‘As his absence regarding the big screen was pretty intentional, I’m glad he’s putting himself out there again or at least, taking offers when they come in.
‘I feel like he’s just an all around great guy and has remained that way for many years. Not that it means a lot but I’ve never read or heard a bad thing about him.’
‘Great to see him back in a big role,’ Tomywest_123 penned.
As ReturnOfDaSnack420 added: ‘I am so unbelievably here for ’90s teen horror nostalgia.’
Freddie will reportedly star alongside Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon and Tyriq Withers in the movie, but details on the plot or release date have not been made public.
Another famous face who could find herself going up against the hook-handed killer is Brandy, who played Karla in the 1998 offering.
Speaking about the upcoming slasher in a chat with the Hollywood Reporter, she said: ‘I need them to give me a call because I survived in that movie!
‘I came out in the end, bloodied up, ready to go. I did not die in that film!
‘Jennifer, Freddie, hit me up!’
Over to you, Freddie…
