Blackburn boss John Eustace says everyone at the club is raging after their player Owen Beck saw red – after HE appeared to be bitten by a Preston player.
The Liverpool left-back is on loan at the Championship outfit and was given his marching orders by ref Matthew Donohue in the 0-0 Lancashire Derby draw for a furious reaction to an off-the-ball incident that sparked a melee. He was seen pleading with the ref, indicating that he had been bitten on the neck by Milutin Osmajic, something TV replays appeared to back up.
Clips of the shameful incident went viral on social media with plenty of support for a visibly outraged and upset Beck, who now faces a ban for apparent violent conduct. But Blackburn boss Eustace says the dressing room are behind him and hopes to see the book thrown at Osmajic.
He said after the game: “Owen’s got a big bite mark on the back of his neck and it’s a shame the referee didn’t see that. It’s a very serious incident, no-one likes to be bitten.
“Everyone’s angry about it. It’s not a nice situation to be in. I’m sure the right people will see it and we’ll take it from there.”
