This Morning viewers were keen to voice their opinions on My Mum, Your dad contestants Jenny and Danny during the Monday show.
The couple appeared live to chat with hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley about the romance blossoming between them in the grand mansion setting.
As audiences have watched, the single parents have developed a connection, soon becoming the first to use ‘the snug’ – a new feature this series where couples can enjoy privacy away from the children’s watchful eyes.
Ben probed the potential of a deeper relationship forming while Jenny hesitated and Danny insisted: “You’ve got to keep watching haven’t we?”
Determined to extract more details, Cat pressed for clues. Spotting a possible sign, Ben observed how they positioned themselves on the couch as he said: “They’ve separated a little bit, I can’t quite work it out.”
Danny added: “The one spoiler I’ll give is that absolutely all of us have come out completely and utterly best friends and will be lifelong friends.”
However, fans watching were convinced the pair are no longer together as people commented on the huge space between them.
One person said: “‘It was all filmed so long ago’ – what better way to say that you’re already distancing yourself from the show and that you’re not together and that this is a contractually obligated interview.”
Another suggested obvious discomfort, adding: “They cannot stand each other. But obviously contractually obliged by ITV to appear on shows like #thismorning to sell this b****cks.”
Another viewer quipped: “He doesn’t dislike her nearly as much as she dislikes him. #ThisMorning.”
“Jenny and Danny didn’t hit it off then? Danny will fall off the end of the sofa in a minute,” another joined in.
One person commented: “May as well have sat them on different sofas they’re sitting so far apart!”
Reflecting on their appearance, Danny admitted his initial reaction was outright rejection when the show contacted him.
He said: “My daughter put me forward secretly! I had an email out of the blue, I read through and thought, ‘Absolutely not’ and deleted it.”
“It was a month later she owned up to it and I had to explain that I had no interest in meeting anyone and I had no interest in going on TV.”
Despite initially declining, he acknowledged a change in mindset at the beginning of the year, deciding to embrace life more fully by saying yes, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Jenny and Danny are set to debut in the snug come Monday night, with Danny revealing first jitters about the private space.
When asked about what they discussed off-air, Jenny shared that she talked about her CV due to nerves.
Danny humorously prodded: “I hope it was nerves, it was the most dull-” but Jenny interjected, retorting: “Charming, thanks.”
This Morning continues weekdays on ITV from 10am and My Mum, Your Dad is available to watch on ITVX.
