Police say no valid threat to the school existed as the student fabricated the content of the posts fully.

SAN ANTONIO — The Kerrville Police Department said a middle schooler was arrested after reports of a school shooting threat posted online targeted at Hal Peterson Middle School.

Investigators say they found that the hoax threats were posted on social media by a 10-year-old student at Kerrville Independent School District with intent of causing harm or panic. He has been charged with a third-degree felony charge of terroristic threat.

Police say no valid threat to the school existed as the student fabricated the content of the posts fully.

Kerrville authorities are urging parents to speak with their children about the seriousness of making threats to social media that reference violence to schools.

“The legal consequences for people who make threats, including juveniles, can be severe and permanent,” the Kerrville Police Department said in a statement.
