Great British Bake Off host Alison Hammond revealed an embarrassing on-set accident left co-star Noel Fielding in hysterics.

The pair are set to return with judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith for the 15th series, which kicks off tonight (Tuesday, September 24).

In a group interview with Bella magazine, the TV stars told how they are one big happy family and have a lot of fun away from the camera as well as on screen.

But one unfortunate incident left Alison, 49, mortified with embarrassment while her co-star Noel was “laughing his head off”.

She said: “I didn’t realise you’re supposed to straddle a hammock to get on. I just put my bum into it and literally went over.

“I could just see Noel in the make-up room with his mouth open. He saw the whole of Alison, inside and out, and he was just laughing his head off.”

Prue, who has starred on Bake Off since 2017, chimed in that it wasn’t the only time Alison has been involved in an embarrassing incident on-set.

Alison explained: “I was showing off as normal – sitting on a work bench. I thought there was a table to lean back on but there wasn’t and my whole body went off it.”

Noel, 51, added: “I was watching it on the monitor – she literally just disappeared out of shot. I thought she’d hurt herself. It looked like it could have been quite bad.”

There have been a number of changes to the presenting line up since Bake Off first aired in 2010, with Paul Hollywood, 58, the only constant. He was joined by the iconic Mary Berry on the judging panel with presenting duties falling to Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc.

Despite this the current team are very tight knit and often socialise away from the cameras.

Alison revealed: “Paul is the instigator of everything. I’ll be trying to sneak off and he’ll be like ‘Alison we’re having drinks’. I’m like ‘OK yes sir, I’m on my way’.”

Bake Off returns to TV screens at 8pm tonight (Tuesday, September 24) on Channel 4.
