Fans of Sundara Karma were devastated as it was announced that the band was breaking up after 13 years together
The band, known for hit songs such as She Said, Flame, and Indigo Puff, revealed on social media that after three studio albums and several chart toppers, they made the difficult decision to break up.
‘This has been one of the hardest decisions we’ve ever had to make, but after years of sharing our music with you all, we’ve decided it’s time to close the most significant chapter of our lives so far.
‘We’ve been a band for over twelve years and we’ve experienced things we could never have imagined. This journey has been nothing short of incredible!
‘As we’ve grown, so have our hopes and dreams, and we’re ready to explore new things. It’s not goodbye to music—it’s just time for us to step away from making music as Sundara Karma,’ they said on Instagram.
Fans were devastated that the indie rock band would be parting ways, with many commenting that their music was fundamental to their teenage years.
‘bro sundara karma breaking up would send 15 year old me into a coma,’ said alewonders on X.
The breakup announcement from the band went on to reminisce that they will continue to be ‘best of friends’ after they started the band in school.
‘One thing that remains constant as we enter this new chapter is our friendship. We are, and always will be, the best of friends. The bond we’ve built over these years since starting the band as kids at school has only grown stronger, and that’s something we treasure as much as the music we’ve made together.
They also thanked fans for their support over the years.
‘To every fan who came to our shows, listened to our music, or supported us in any way—thank you. You’ve been with us through it all, and we’ll forever be grateful for the love, energy, and time you’ve shared with us. It may sound trite to say, but we truly couldn’t have done this without you. You’ve made this experience unforgettable.’
The day after the split, the band then announced that they would be going on one final tour with four dates in Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester and London. While it’s unclear how much thee gigs will cost, some Indie bands have been charging just £30 fo their concerts after claiming nobody has enough money for prices like the ones seen by Oasis.
The band’s final gig is set to take place this December.
