Before you book that impromptu trip to Spain, it’s worth taking a peek at the weather forecast.

For a British holidaymaker has advised fellow travellers to “bring wellies” after his recent visit to Spain’s east coast was marred by torrential downpours and flooding. A TikTok video posted by Viral Vids (@viralvids_______) shows the usually bustling resort town of Salou transformed into a waterlogged mess.

Captured in the heart of the town, located about 70 miles south of Barcelona, the video reveals streets resembling rivers with deep, fast-flowing water engulfing the centre of the tourist hotspot. Brave souls attempting to navigate the flood are seen clad in ponchos and clutching umbrellas, some wading through water nearly up to their knees.

An emergency vehicle is also seen struggling to make its way along the inundated roads, prompting Viral Vids to comment: “Pack your wellies lads. Salou is underwater.” One of the account’s followers confirmed the chaos: “Literally in Salou right now and last night was crazy. Everything was flooded.”

Another added their voice to the chorus of disbelief, stating: “Last night was crazy! Went for a walk there and saw a massive tree blow down and it’s covering half the road now.”

Adding to the grim testimonials, meanwhile, another British tourist shared her Salou experience on TikTok too. Jess (@je55x) posted with biting irony: “How was your holiday? Salou floods.”

Her clip captured the dramatic moment she’s drenched by floodwaters, showing a local takeaway and her submerged feet. Braving the deluge, she recorded shopkeepers frantically trying to protect their businesses from rising water levels.

In a later segment of her footage, she detailed her personal ordeal: “It was as bad as it looked. I have a one-year old child and I had to push my pram through this. It was really bad down by where all the shops are. Lots of places were flooding – they were sweeping the shops.”

She continued: “It was going so fast, the water. It was a little bit scary. But what can we do except laugh?”

Majorca has also been hit hard by torrential rains, causing widespread flight disruptions and leaving numerous travellers stranded. Palma Airport experienced a temporary shutdown of all landings and take-offs for 20 minutes due to the extreme conditions, potentially affecting the plans of many would-be tourists eager for some late-summer sunshine.

Several flights destined for Palma were rerouted to alternative destinations including Ibiza, Menorca, and Barcelona.
